We may approach
life with an attitude
of abundance or
an attitude of scarcity.
The latter belongs to
those who believe that
the goods of the world
are few, and that they
won’t be sufficient to
satisfy the needs of all.
As a result, they feel
that they must be very
cautious in sharing
with others.
Here at St. Patrick’s,
however, we approach
life with trust
in abundance, believing
that in giving
we
receive and trusting
that the Lord will not
be outdone in generosity.
As Christians we
take to heart the instructions
of Jesus contained
in Luke 12 regarding
trust in the
Lord, who knows
what
we need.
At the St. Vincent
de Paul Society
we have learned
throughout the years
to trust more and more
on God’s providence
and to trust also in
your generosity.
Last month we had a growing list of children in need of backpacks and school
supplies, and at one point we only had two backpacks in the parish office! We really
did not worry about it.
We explained the
situation to you on our
Sunday masses and, lo
and behold, supplies
started raining on us
and we were able to
assist more than 80
children! The kids
were smiling from ear
to ear when they saw
their new, “cool” backpacks!
We know that
many of you are feeling
the pinch of the
financial crisis, but
you went out of your
way to help others in
need. Thank you and
may God bless you
abundantly.
