It is the belief of the Roman Catholic Church that, after the paryers of consecration at Mass, the bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
TO RECEIVE A COMMUNION
Most communicants prefer to receive communion in the hand, while others prefer communion on the tongue. Whichever you prefer, the Eucharist is to be consumed immediately.

FOR CATHOLICS
If you have not been active in practicing your faith for some time or if you are in a state of serious (mortal) sin, the Church's instruction is that you receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This will restore your relationship with God and the Church. You are then welcome to receive communion. If your present status prevents you from receiving communion, we encourage you to come forward to receive a blessing from the priest or deacon.

FOR NON-CATHOLICS
Sadly, we are not yet in full communion with Christians of other denominations. Therefore, individuals who are not of the Roman or Eastern Catholic Rite are not permited to receive Communion. You are, however, invited to come forward at Communion time to receive a blessing from the priest or deacon.

TO RECEIVE A BLESSING
You indicate that you wish to receive a blessing by approaching the priest with both arms across your chest in the form of an "X".
